Are Possums Good to Eat?

Most of the people like to eat possums while some believed that eating them is not good because they carry various diseases. There are more than 30 million possums that are living around the world like in New Zealand, and they make a great meal if you find them around you, must try them.  According to a review when we asked from the people about the taste of possums, they said that it is very delicious like fish and beneficial for health. This is one of the best foods for the dog, but a human can also eat them.  Possum's meat is rich in fats; if you do not remove the skin that it will taste like a chicken.  They are more active at night, so you can catch them when they are out of their holes because they like to live underground.  You even do not need to hunt the possums with a gun; just walk along the roadside; you will find them easily. 

How to cook them? 
After getting possums into your hands, try to remove the hair and fats from the body as much as you can. You can use another method by soaking in vinegar water or saltwater overnight before cooking them. You can also keep them in the icebox if you have otherwise soaked them in black paper and saltwater before to cook. Simmer in the salt and paper water until the meat becomes tender.  You can serve this meat along with sauces because, for most people, they do not taste like chicken. People who do not like to hunt and afraid of it may find them along the roadside after a car accident, so they can claim they have not killed it, but now they have the opportunity so they can cook it to eat. 

Possum's recipe
Follow the following recipe and ingredients to make a portion of delicious food. 

You need the following ingredients:

  • Possums (1 with cut-up)
  • Oil ½ cup 
  • Minced garlic cloves 2
  • Sliced onion (1)
  • Carrot (4) cut in the thick slice
  • Small can whole kernel corn (1)
  • Tomato (1)
  • Bell paper sliced (1)
  • Peeled and sliced potato (5)
  • Salt and paper as per required 
  • Tabasco (10 drops)
  • Tomato juice 8 ounce
  • Head cabbage should be cut in large piece 1/8
  • Zucchini cut in large piece 2
  • White vinegar ¼ cup

First of all, brown the onion in the Dutch oven. Add all the material expect zucchini, head cabbage, peeled and sliced potato, and paper. Mix all the added material well, cover them and simmer for the next 40-45 minutes. Now uncover it and add the remaining ingredients now simmer it again for the next 10-15 minutes until vegetables are tendered.  Your Possums strew ready you can eat this delicious food. You can also freeze this after cooking.
